I don't recommend putting capacitor across transformer and gap
in series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Gap across transformer keeps it shorted
when most of the power is circulating in the primary, while having
the capacitor across the transformer guarantees it will see full
RF voltage with, at least in my opinion, greatly enhanced possibility
of shorting between windings.  I have, for sure, blown up transformers
connected this way back in the distant past when I hadn't gotten
around to thinking it through as I should have.
