Coupling Experiments

Hi all,
        Below is a table of dynamic (shunt) resistances measured
across several primary circuits with different values of coupling to
the secondary for different values of secondary load (shunt)
resistance. I examined the system as a coupled black box with the
primary as one port and the top of the secondary as another.

Challenge : pick the "best" primary configuration for the particular
secondary used (with reasons) (assume a coupled system when sparking).
      I used the df/F method for measuring k. Fr was about 146kHz. All
values in Ohms.

Load R ->    o/c    220k     22k    2.2k     220     0    Ohms
------------------------------------------------------------------
50nF,25uH
k=0.2         5     266      334    391      394     -  (no change)
k=0.145     13.5    407      383    419       -      -
k=0.082      37     373      349    356      349     -
k=0.066      96     347      342     -        -      -
25nF,50uH
k=0.185      32     479     1.06k   1.42k    1.49k   -
k=0.124      29?    1.04k   1.09k   1.19k    1.2k    -
k=0.059     140     1.1k    1.05k   1.02k    1.08k   -
18nF,66uH
k=0.17       21     709     2.45k   6.11k    7.15k   7.4k
k=0.101      47     1.93k   4.14k   5.93k    6.23k   -
k=0.053     170     4.56k   5.09k   5.57k    5.69k   -

     Measurements aren't claimed to be stunningly accurate but I think
are very indicative.

Regards,
Malcolm
