Network Troubles but I think I'm back now....
If any of you have missed me lately I was scheduled off over the
holidays. Even so I usually work from home. But not this time -
at least not for the last few days because the biggest snow storm
in 75 years up here knocked out our overhead 69kV transmission-line
feed. Then the UPS batteries ran out. That knocked out the power
supply in a big user disk with all my mail on it. Couldn't even
fully log on to that machine. Coming back up there was some kind
of electrical problem which wasn't fixed until today.
Simultaneously, our fiber-optic link to the Internet went out so
that I could not send or receive email outside our site. This
situation lasted for a few days. A few posts came in this morning,
but based on the usual number of posts from CLOCKS and Chip's list,
I have missed many posts, probably hundreds.
Things are coming back now.
As for the data regarding the mean free path of ions around a Tesla
Coil, I have dropped a note to one of our Laser Engineers for this
If any of you sent me some private mail requesting information,
please send the request again. I will at least acknowledge it.
