Hog wash! Toroidal cores are EASY to wind, the key is you have to put all 
the wire on a shuttle first then just keep passing it over and through the 
toroid. Take a look in any of the newer ARRL Radio Amature Handbooks, they 
have complete instructions on how to wind on toriodal forms. See the ASCII 
drawing bellow, you put the wire on between the horns, of course you make 
the shuttle's width such that it will easily pass through the toroid's hole 
and you make the shutle long enough to hold all the wire you need to put 
on. You unwind the wire from the shuttle as you wind it onto the toroid.
