Gary,

I had the same problem at first. Then i realized that the neon light stayed
lit a significant portion of the 1/2 cycle. The answer for me was to use a
light dimmer to limit the neon on time to a few degrees of the rotation. It
was still a little blurry but clear i was in sync.
