It theory at least, the reason for the technical terms is to increase 
the clarity or preciseness of descriptions. As long as the use of slang 
terms does not hinder this as in the use of terms like OBIT or xformer
or even tranny (I personally don't like the last one) then I say it is fine,
BUT when it starts to make communication MORE difficult then I say it has 
gone too far. Back when I graduated from college I was very insistent on 
the usage of proper terms, as the years rolled by I learned that it is not 
the words that are important but the successful transfer of ideas.
