Yeow!  Don't do it!  You can likely get elements for nearly free.  Do you
have an appliance recycling place or junkyard/dump where these things go 
to die?  Go there with a screwdriver, 1/4" nut driver and some wire
cutters and harvest them.  If you don't have anything like that, contact
me offline and I'll see if I can scrounge some for you for the cost of
shipping.
