Yeah, you're right.  I needed to be more specific.  Not all the 
automotive wire has resistance, you need to check.  I have seen plain 
copper core stuff with no resistance (like TV wire), as well as a new 
breed of coax stuff with straight copper in the middle and an RG58-like 
RFI shielding layer instead of resistance to combat the interference 
problem.
