first coil

I am very nearly at the point of firing up my first coil -perhaps only a
few weeks away. i still have a few questions

1
Is it important that the Toroid plate (in the hole of the doughnut) is a
non conductor coated with foil on each side or can this be, for example,
an aluminium plate ?

2
My secondary is coated with acrylic spray "varnish" on a 3 inch pvc (or
pp) tube which I also coated with varnish. The wire is 22.5 gauge
(0.6mm) and 24 inches long. Any problems ? I am a bit worried as I did
not allow the "varnish" on the former to dry well before winding.

3
I am thinking of using the filter circuit from Terry fritz (thanks
Terry) with four 4.7k 50w wirewound resistors and 8 15kV 1000pf ceramic
filter caps giving 30kV and 1000pf on each leg to RF ground. I have also
made two "kickback" chokes with 70 turns of wire on 2 inch plastic
formers - would it be overkill to use these as well ?

4
The Tank Cap will be chains of 70nF MKP - 15 in each chain and up to 6
chains giving up to 28nF in steps of 4,7nF. (As used with good results
by Reinhard Walter Buchner) Should there be any cross linking between
the chains ?

More Coiler Greets from Germany (sorry Reinhard).
