It depends on which stainless steel you are talking about, but you may get
any or all of the following: -
nitrates and oxides of chromium (known carcinogens), nickel (known or
suspected carcinogens certainly nickel compounds react with skin proteins to
produce allergens), oxides of sulphur (corrosive), selenium, and probably
particles of the elements themselves.
