RE: Parallel and Series LCR Circuit Qs

Marc -

In the 1930's three scientists built a 5 million volt Tesla coil that had a
secondary coil with about 6000 turns of fine wire. The input was 70000 volts
giving a voltage gain of 71 or an operating Q factor of 71.

hi john, all
i would like to ask another silly question, why is the 1000 to 1500
turn's secondary the shoot for number? what would the detrimental
effects of a, say 3000 turn secondary be?
