In my experience, Plexiglas (a.k.a. acrylic) may be difficult to cut and
drill. It has an unfortunate tendency to crack while you're working on it.
I've not tried using cutting board material but I believe others have. The
best material overall is Lexan (a.k.a. polycarbonate) - it cuts, drills, and
machines beautifully.

For the wire gauge question, I assume you're asking about the secondary. It
depends upon the secondary length and diameter. In general you want to end
up with about 1000 turns, though there is some evidence that a higher
number like 1600 may be better. Also the aspect ratio (L:D) wants to be
between 5:1 and 3:1.

About a 1" space between pri and sec windings should be adequate.

No experience on the shunt removal stuff.

Hello, I have just a few question I would like to ask you. Is plexy glass or
cutting board material a good substance to used as primary supports and to
as
and end cap on the secondary? What is the best wire guage to used with a
15kv,
120ma trany.....does 22 sound right? What is the best spacing to use between
the secondary and the Primary? And Finnaly what is the maximun shunt plates
you
can take out of an NST with out killing it or putting it under so much
stress
that it fries within an hour or so of non continous use?

Thakns so much for your help again
