Hi R.E.    I wound a fat 12" quicktube that was 20" high with solid #14
wire (one spool of 500').  It is short and fat and works great!  It was
really cheap to make.  The wire only cost $15.00 and the sawed off
quicktube was even cheaper.  I was also able to get massive arcs using
only two turns of 3/8" tube primary.  I was really impressed with the
dirt cheap coil I built as compared to the expensive motor wire wound
coil form that I had used on my third coil.     AL.
