Polyurethane

Hi all,

This may be ho hum to experienced coilers. I was impressed today by the
insulating
properties of poylurethane varnish. The necessary rounded bends in the 3/16
Cu tubing
that form the 15-turn primary are formed in order to mount the primary so it
is coaxial
with the secondary. I noticed some arcing to the secondary coming from the
bends at the end of the coil. These bends are rounded, they are not sharp
bends. I brushed some
PU varnish in the area of the bends and one coat was enuff to stop the
arcing. I brushed on several more coats and the arcing is now eliminated.

Happy Day,
