My centerfed bipolar coil has 21.5 inches of # 28 wound on a piece of 2 inch
I have been experimenting with a split primary consisting of two coils, each
7 turns of 3/16 Cu tubing. Currently, the two primary sections are spaced
around 2 inches apart. They are mounted so I can adjust their separation and
this appears to be the optimum spacing altho the tuning effect is very broad
and not wide ranging. F res is 128 kHz. The arc is a wimpish 5 inches with
1350 Watts of NST's (now properly phased). :-)) The gap is 0.32 and the MMC
is 0.022 uF.
Somewhere I have read or seen that the secondary may be wound with a gap at
center. The winding is supposed to traverse a gap of 1-2 inches with just a
turn or so.
Can anyone give me some info on this?
