RE: primary turns

Alex -

The JHCTES Ver 3.1 will give you the primary turns (spiral assumed). Begin
by designing the secondary circuit. This will give you the operating
frequency to which the primary circuit must be resonant. Then enter your
primary capacitor. The approximate number of primary turns will show in the
outputs. You then select the average primary radius. This radius will depend
on the pri to sec clearance you want. Notice this clearance change in the
outputs. The primary turns will be recalculated by the computer to keep the
TC system in tune.

You then select the width of turns to give you the inside and outside radius
of the pri spiral coil plus the center to center spacing of the wire or
tubing you are using. The correct number of primary turns will now be shown
after you click "CACULATE".

The JHCTES Ver 3.1 computer program can be downloaded free by clicking

How does one determine the correct number of turns for the primary. I have
wintesla.
In wintesla the primary and secondary don't seem to integrate.
