Re: Primary/Secondary Size relationship

Hi ???,
I had to do something similar when I wound a new 5.5" secondary and just had
to try it out before winding a proper primary for it. I borrowed the primary
from my 4.5" diameter coil. It had an inner diameter of 5.5". The trick is
to decrease the coupling by jacking up the secondary as you have stated. I
finally ended up using a 2" thick roll of Kapton tape which has an HDPE core
and had no problem whatsoever. I had to disassemble the set up after I was
done testing because the secondary was extreamly 'tipsey', and knowing my
luck.......

Hope this helps.
