Well, the classics that I've seen on the web seen to have a helical primary over the centre, and a closewound coil with no breaks as the secondary, fed double-ended (equidrive) for balance. However grounding the centre of the secondary might improve balance - but this might also neccesitate a gap in the winding to bring out the tap. No ideas otherwise! Alex
