Matt,

Once that stuff's been bent once it's darn hard to bend it again - it's called
work hardening. You would be best to get a brand new box or roll of the stuff,
nicely coiled and ready to lay on. You don't need to preform it at all - just
lay it on and tie it in as it goes. It's not expensive, so I'd have another go
if I was you.
