grounding problem

Hi all,
I was wondering if a 4ft long 1in diam. copper pipe is large enough for a 
12kv30ma powered coil.I have been trying to get arcs off it and cant.The arcs 
are 15in to my hand via a metal pole with no pain.To the ground rod they are 
like 6-7in!!??why?And dont worry because im soon to quit the hand arcing as 
soon as i can get my hands on a 60ma nst.


BTW-anybody have any cheap 60ma nst?
