Re: Pole Pig deal

Hi Daniele

The price sounds OK, though sometimes they can be had cheaper,
sometimes free.
If it is a POLE mount transformer, I don't see any reason for special
cables unless they are terminated differently where you are (.it =
Italy?)than here, USA, where the high voltage bushings just have a
clamp on them and just about any old wire will do, I first used 1/4"
copper tubing for mine. If however the transformer is a PAD MOUNT or
something similar, it will be terminated with some bushings designed
for "load break elbows". The load break contains a switch and is used
for removing power from a section of primary between two transformers
so that it may be serviced (the primary, sometimes it will develop a
leak, but depending on what kind of minerals are in the ground, the
usual problem is that the outer wrap of wire which is neutral breaks
down and the load becomes unbalanced.) or to remove all power to a
transformer so that IT may be serviced. If this is the case, you will
probably have to have some cables made as the wire has to be
"penciled" etc., and the load break installed for termination.

Hope this helps
later
