The ability to adjust the phase of a sync RSG or triggered gap for best
performance while the coil is running is extremely desirable.  But rather
than using optical isolation for the controls, wouldn't it be a whole lot
easier to simply extend the control shaft with a suitably long piece of PCV
pipe?
