SS Variac Research and Preliminary Schematics

Original poster: "David Sharpe by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <sccr4us-at-erols-dot-com>

Terry has been kind enough to post two documents on hotstreamer. A
report on
development status of possible circuits which can perform this
function at:

 http://hot-streamer-dot-com/temp/SSVariac%20Replacement.doc

And a preliminary schematic of a full wave chopper with support
circuits at:

 http://hot-streamer-dot-com/temp/ssvariac%20inv-push-pull-fw01.xls

I personally like the BDBR topology better then the alternatives
simply because
of lower silicon vdrop in power path (each diode drop is 70W
dissipated at
100A of passing current), if optically isolated gate controls as shown
in the full
wave chopper functions. Circuit values are very preliminary to date
(more like
I need a R, D, or C here, might be within a decade of final value).
But the HWIPP
and FWIPP circuits have been simulated on MultisimV2001 and appeared
to
function as desired.

Flames, comments, and advice welcomed, starting on low power
development
after Christmas... :^)

Merry Christmas to all on the Tesla List...
