Synchronous triggred spark gap. Relatively new idea in TC feild developed by
Marc Metlicka (sp?). Gap that uses auto transformer (high voltage) to
channel plasma through a single gap spark gap. It spaces the electrodes
further apart than normal to achieve better quenching.
For more info check out www.pupman-dot-com and search archives for triggered gap
or stsg

Hi,
pardon my ignorance but what is a stsg? I know sg is spark gap, and am
familiar with asynchronous/synchronous spark gaps and muffin cooled Hull
gaps, but what is STSG?
Thanks

Ps I just blew my first capacitor! Out came a smelly oil. the oil soaked
papertowel burned quite nicely, so do I assume it isn't PCB's?
Thanks
