Hi

The method I use is to cut a little at a time, reassembling the motor after
each cut, until I get approx. 80% FLA at rated Voltage with the disk and
electrodes installed. One the six pole motor that ended up giving me flats
that are just shy of the width of the uncut parts. That would be just under
1/4 the diameter. Sounds good to me.
