Most of what your reading are urban legends, Tesla's supposed death ray had
nothing to do with microwaves it was a particle beam. I've seen nothing in
any of Tesla's patents or diagrams of lab equipiment that even remotely
resemble a magnetron, although in his writings he proposed radar like
systems could be built if a way was found to generate a high enough
frequency but thats a concept not an invention. But Tesla proposed and
conjectured about a lot of things in the latter half of his life. The
goverment had nothing to do with suppressing anything Tesla was doing while
he was alive, other than refusing to buy his radio controlled torpedo and
other concept inventions. He traveled overseas several times after the
invention of his AC system, Tesla was a free citizen and came and went as he
pleased, the government did not keep him from doing anything for other
countrys. Our government was not that powerful back then. He never worked
directly for Marconi and considered the man an a**. Tesla was experimenting
with radio when Marconi was still climbing up his mammas curtains so I
seriously doubt he ever directly worked for or with Marconi. No one stripped
Tesla of his wealth other than Tesla himself due to absolutely no business
sense and an inability to bring most of his inventions to any fruitful
conclusion. Tesla's AC system was in place and accepted before any of his
major financial setbacks and at that time was heralded as one of the
greatest scientists in the world at that time. The federal government never
stripped Tesla of any wealth through legal action. Legal actions came from
unpaid bills at Colorado springs and Wardenclyfe. Because of his early work
in high voltage high frequency and his ideas for fantastic inventions
discussed in many magazine articles of the time he did become a kind of
model for the "mad scientist" in movies and comics. Case in point, The
Invisible Ray starring Boris Karloff as a Tesla like mad scientist, had many
of Tesla's ideas depicted. Or the Superman cartoon from the forties
depicting another Tesla like mad scientist with a death ray. The only
propaganda being blown around about Tesla came from Tesla himself and was
due to magazine articles.

<I read that at the end of Tesla's life, there was a massive amount of
propaganda blowing around to keep people afraid of him, and his work.
Most of it focused on Mad Scientists, Death Rays, Mind Controls, and a
near look alike appearance in the cartoon characters depictions to
Tesla himself. He wanted to help Niger, a country build a radio
teletype while he was working on the Wardclif power transmission
experiment. The government obviously didn't like the concept of him
leaving this country to do any kind of scientific work when they
couldn't be sure if he wouldn't develop a new idea there as opposed to
here, or in joint with their government for a higher price than america
would be willing to pay. In other words they were also concerned that
he could also be bought, as it were. So, they used the situation for
several different reasons, bonded to their initial military intrests to
take his money by legal action. Marconi, was his employer, and at the
time he couldn't bill anyone for electrical power when it's being
transmitted through the air. Moreover, meters, metering, and the
concepts of Thomas Edison, and DC vs Tesla's AC were still going on.
There wasn't a real power company anywhere DC, or AC. Edison's ideas
were ruled out as well as Tesla's, and 60Hz became the standard but,
not until Tesla was totally financially disabled as a man, and a
scientist. The government would not allow him to continue his work
period. In reality, Nikola, invented the very first microwave
magnatron, and eventually, it was used in radar. We can cook with
microwaves, and do but, that's a death ray for a short distance.
