Hi All,

Just thought you might want to hear this. I was running my OBIT farm to
power a JL and I was slowly bringing up the power with a light dimmer. I
think the dimmer was rated for 500w, and 5 OBITs is close to 2250(input)!
The triac didn't die, it was a long time before anything died. But after
maybe 5mins of running, the JL quit arcing. I turned off the power to my cab
and checked my wiring. Nothing wrong. I tried the OBITs on an ON/OFF switch
and everything worked fine. I concluded that something must have gone wrong
with the light dimmer. So I took it apart. Upon opening a few drops of
cooled metal fell out. I looked at the back of the dimmer. Everything
appeared to be fine with the exception of a wire that was melted into two
pieces. It appeared to be 22 or 24AWG uninsulated wire. Thats a lot of
current to melt that... I repaired it and it works fine now. I just use
it to control my async gap intstead now...
