Alex,

I did this in the past using the 4 MOT's in series with the midpoint
grounded, but I didn't even bother using the oil. I got some
corona sparkling between the windings and the core, but it held
anyway. The set up gave 63" sparks and drew from 4kVA to 6kVA
depending on whether I used an external ballast or not. It ran
rather inefficiently and was a higher break-rate rotary gap coil.
I only kept it set up for a couple of weeks so it never received
long term testing.

I seem to remember reading a few postings from others who
have done this too, and in an oil bath. Many folks prefer to use
the voltage doubler concept using just two MOT's.
