RE: Behr Build 50

Hi All, Ted!

I've used it on my 2" coils with good success, but on advice I obtained from
the list, mix mix mix!! I used an old plastic widget thing I found in the
garage that I chocked up in my drill and to really get the stuff worked up.
I spread it on with a brush, and simply breathing on the larger bubbles
popped most of them. I let the form rotate for a full day.

 Things to do!
Aluminum foil!!! It's the best for keeping this stuff under control!!
newspaper soaks through, foil don't! I found that foil under some newspaper
kept the mess waaay down.
cheap disposable brushes. 'nuff said there :)
Mix, mix, mix!!! The more the better!
ensure your form is as close to level as you can get! I had a nasty case
of it being 1/4" high on the live-center side, and all the stuff ran to the
low end of the coil and dripped off. :/
low rotation speed while it sets, or it'll sling off and makes a mess.
expect some wobbles/smooth low lumps in the coating. I've never gotten a
perfectly smooth coat, there's always been some lumps.

  Things *not* to do

Don't rush into it. Takes time to do it right.
At least in FL, don't try to do it at night. I get tons of bugs circling
my garage flourescents, and they're sure to get stuck to the coil. :/

All the normal safety stuff applies, ventilation, chemicals, etc.
Disposable brushes and plastic cups work good for this stuff. I got a lot
of build 50 left, but as you've noted, there's no more to be had. So I'll
have to find something else once I use up what's left.
