Tungsten is a metal. #74 on the periodic table, W. It is one of the
strongest substances on earth, with an elastic modulus of 35.5 x 10^10 n/m^2
(ratio of stress to strain, stress being force/area and strain the amount of
relative deformation produced in a body under stress). Tungsten also has an
extremely high melting point at 3410 C (6170 F) and boils at 5927 C (10700
F), this is one of the main reasons we use it in spark gaps. Tungsten has a
resistivity of 5.6 x 10^-6 ohms/cm, compared to copper's 1.724 x 10^-6
ohms/cm, and brass' 7.00 x 10^-6 ohms/cm. Tungsten is extremely hard, but
brittle. I don't think its possible for you to drill or tap tungsten, unless
you have a machine shop and are equipped with a large stock of carbide tools
and alot of experience, and maybe not even then (I'm not 100% sure on the
machining, I'd probably be lost in almost any machine shop, so don't listen
to me there).
