Matt;

Please see Chuck Currans excellent instructions for paralleling multiple
Variacs. His text concerns the popular Superior Powerstat #1256 model but
is applicable to any model of Variac/autotransformer.

"I seem to have gotten several inquires on this topic. I have uploaded a
couple of drawings to my web site so interested people can get the
information. This evening I did go over in detail the Superior choke and
that info is up there. The drawing is available along with a view of the
connection method for this choke, scanned from the Superior Powerstat
catalog.

Go to: http://www.execpc-dot-com/~ccurran Select the link: "Paralleling
1256D Powerstat Details" which is about 2/3 of the way down the index
page.

Chuck"

Daniel

I recently won an auction for (3) 6A variacs stacked together for 3phase
operation.
You can see them and their wiring here:

SAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1608821116&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=993541420&indexU

RL=0&rd=1

Is it possible to change their wiring from 3phase to parallel, such that
they
are rated for a total of 18A (for running an MOT or something of the sort
for
powering a coil)?

Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
