HI Alan and list , I have one of the Jeffersons which Alan is refering to and 
it works great ! I have scince depotted two other of these NST's and the only 
thing to be carful of is when emptying the contents.The secondary coils can 
be damaged if not carefully emptied into the solvent. To get the shunts out I 
used a die grinder with a two inch cut off disc and removed eight of the 
shunts per corner of the inside of the core . 
With the France formers which have removeable shunts ,depotting is a little 
less complicated and they have a frame surrounding the core which helps to 
keep 
everything inside from getting damaged upon unpotting . 
Ross Overstreet did a great job with a France former and removed all the 
shunts and 
got something like 200 ma. out of it ! I don't know if he uses a current 
limiting device or not though ,all I know is that his coil " ROCKS ".
