Having a permanently installed bleeder resistor across your cap would seem
to make much more sense that having to use a bang stick each time. The
power lost is negligible and there's nothing to remember, except to not
disconnect it!

Hi all!
School curtain rods are made of 3/8 fiberglass round stock.
It also has a handy lug at the end and a plastic handle at the
other. Very stiff and easy to make into a BANG stick for shorting
out heavy loads. You can find these surplus I'm sure, unless you
live on an Island.
