Not sure about the second question, I may have to try
that.  :-)  I'm guessing the coil isn't going to work
right, but I'm not sure.  As far as the noise, its
thunder, or something like it I would think.  When
lighting strikes, which is an arc between the ground
in the clouds or vise versa, it creates sound waves as
ionizes the air.  Same effect in a TC, smaller scale.
