Suggestion:
A quick means to insulate the cases...use masking tape to cover the top
terminals. Then spray the cases with paint primer (gray or brown) and a
final couple of coats of the red rubber insulating material often used to
build up a cushioned coating on tool handles.

I'd leave a little spacing.  Just to be sure.  I don't think they would be
attached to the case, but better safe than sorry.
