I'm working on an SSTC using IGBTs and I expect it to work first time. 
Whether it will is another question =)

The circuit will be a little different but yes.

They aren't much good for high frequency, so you had better be thinking of 
a huge coil =)

Some may go to 200 kHz when soft-switching, but in that case you'd better 
be pretty close to resonance. Most don't like 100 kHz too much.

In fact if you aren't driving a resonant load, instead driving a motor 
etc., you will need to keep under 20 kHz for decent efficiency..

So like I said, you'd better be driving a huge coil =) The one I'm going to 
drive is just under 100 kHz...
