Hey, no name,

The formula for determining the Joules of a charged capacitor is:
 
Energy in Joules = 0.5 X the capacitance (in Farads) X  Volts squared

for example, a 200 uFD cap charged to 1000 volts would have:
 0.5 (200 X 10-6) X 1000 squared or 1 million = 100 joules
