Hi Tom,
        I'd suspect that putting them in parallel will give you just a
little bit less output than a single 833 tube would.  I've not gone for long
sparks, but rather good hot ones with plenty of power (5-8" sparks usually,
but hot enough to melt wire, and turn the end of a drywall screw white hot).
Sounds like they'd be good for a low powered tube coil with them both in
parallel.  Just remember to keep the RL choke as close to the grid terminal
as you can on each tube.
    What's the specs on the tubes? (fil voltage & current, plate voltage &
current, etc)
