Hi Ted,

I currently use an MOT doubler supply to power my coil. I have lost
about 5 MOTs to internal secondary failure. They were all run under
real xfmr oil. I haven't been able to figure out why this is
occurring, but I can say the output of the doubler circuit will
regularly jump my 3/4" ! (or better) safety gap. I had to set it wide
because the power arcs were almost constant, and each one required a
power-down. I just got annoyed and set it huge. But the MOTs are
trash salvage so I'm not upset :).

I have yet to put money into nice test equipment so I cannot shed any
more light on the subject.

Best,

Gregory
