The Geek Group invented a modified bicycle wheel toroid a few years ago. A 
26 inch bike wheel with the tire removed and replaced with 4 or 6" Aluminum 
duct held on with electrical tape. Then the entire unit is covered with Al 
tape. Works well, very strong, and easy to repair. They are the intermediate 
step for us between Pie-Pan toroids and big foamcore ones.
