I once wound a 4" sch 40 pvc form (4.3" OD) with 28AWG
for 18". It performed very well with a 50nF MMC and
MOT power supply--sparks in the 3-4 foot range. I was
using a new 10 Lb spool of wire, and I hardly made a
dent in it.
