Or, just get a "gold flash" plating on it.  It's pretty cheap (people do it
for car trim parts, for instance).  You can find places that will vacuum
evaporate a thin film of almost anything onto stuff.. we used to get plastic
models "plated" in gold this way.  To kill the corrosion and polish, all you
need is a very thin film.  Copper is great as a base because it takes a real
nice polish (why they use it under chrome bumpers...)
