Pieter: RFC=radio frequency choke, This is a low Q coil used to supress un
wanted ac signals. It can be a wire wound resistor, but it is usualy a coil
wound on a resistor body and soldered so the coil and resistor are parallel.
The 1 K 100w resistor in the input filter between the NST and the spark gap
is just such a coil/resistor use. The wire wound resistor is a very low Q
coil of about 250 uH which acts like a coil to supress current surges from
the spark gap, but will not oscilate and cause other problems.
