Hi Matt,
         Back in the dark ages, (July 1964) Popular Electronics magazine had a
detailed construction article for a mini VTTC using a 6L6 for an oscillator
with a 5Y3 rectifier for power supply. Output is ~13KV with 1" brush discharge
and enough power to run a 1.5" ionic propulsion vane.
When you say "mini" is this the size you are thinking of? I can try to send
plans off-list if you are interested.
