Yes many oil burner transformers have a hinged side that allows the
weight of the unit to press the spring like contacts onto the electrode
terminals. Others use "spark plug" type terminals that a "spark plug
wire" (like a cars) runs to the electrode terminals.
I grew up working, now and then, with my neighbor who is an HVAC man for
"mini-bike" gas money. So i've seen many types of furnaces?

PS.
 Oil burner electrodes are very nice tungsten rods that run through
ceramic tubes, Good for many experiments.
