Wednesday I received a 5 KVA pig purchased from some guy with a seemingly
endless supply of transformers on Ebay for $199 shipped, a great deal
considering that he had to ship from Illinois to California. I was really
surprised when this rig (see pictures) from T & R Electric pulled up in
front of my house loaded with distribution transformers. Apparently the
seller has a deal with T & R to drop ship transformers to the winning
bidders. I've been watching some of his other auctions and it looks like
one could get a 10 KVA pig for $350 since he sold one at this price and the
subsequent units auctioned received no bids at the opening price of
$350. This transformer is again available at
(http://cgi.ebay-dot-com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4665&item=1789026016).

This is not a great deal for those of you who live near Dr. Resonance or in
the vicinity of SD but if you live on the West Coast it's pretty good. I
recently purchased a pair of 10 KVA pigs from Dr. R that, with shipping,
came to a total cost of $470 each so $350 (delivered) for a reconditioned
transformer is great.
