The k = 0.6 factor works great if you place the TC into a tank and fill with
SF6 pressurized gas at 120 PSI. This works for scientific research and
particle acceleration but, of course, you can not see any sparks because the
purpose of the gas is to retard ion formation of any type. We made a small
coil once of this type and bought the HV out through a massive bushing. It
worked great but the bushing weighed about 10 times more than the entire
coil and tank housing!! So much for light weight portable coils which was
our original goal.
