OHVM - HV Divider Breakdown / Ratio Test

All

Performed a full up test of HV divider in air using a 15kV / 30mA
NST. Ratio across range was difficult to ascertain, was seeing
magnetization and saturation effects across NST operational
range. However, tied ground bus to one side of 15kV and both
dividers in parallel to opposite side of NST, then ran NST at
140V input. This equates with saturation to approximately
16kV rms input (~22.6kV pk), or 33kV rms input (45.2kVpk)
between each side of divider. Some corona was detected at
HV input, will sand and radius inputs. Board is being mounted
below a 3/8" Lexan cover, to be mounted in a 10" x 12" X 2"
thk UHMW enclosure under a mineral oil bath. Dielectric
strength will be significantly improved, corona reduced, and if
a crash should occur, the board is still repairable (versus
mounting in epoxy). The overstress HV test above is ~2.5X
nominal input, resistor heating was noted, but not in excess
of 2W rating (0.6W -at- 16kV input).

Signal conditioning board and enclosure I hope to complete
this week as well, will check with a pair of 14.4kV PT's
run primaries parallel connected, secondaries series aiding
connected (28.8kV rms [41kV peak] ). Will post pics,
test data and summary results shortly...
