         'room' is less significant than 'distance'.
         and less significant than wiring (is the
         'puter on the same poer feed?).
         What is the value of what is on the 'puter?
         How hard is it to turn it off?
         How hard is it unplug eveything?
         HOW BIG IS THE COIL?

         (Background:
         Some/most 'puter manufacturer's do ESD,
         e-field testing and line transient testing.
         (been there, done that....)

         They do NOT test for the kind of transients/threats
         that a large coil (or even some moderate ones)
         generate.  (there are 'industry (and gummint)
         standards'...)

         How big is the coil?

         How valuable is the computer?
         As noted by others, the 'puter, as such may be
         less affected than other bits.
         Its not possible to give a definitive answer,
         I would consider how hard it is to replace the
         computer and data vs being cautious.
