Hello Robert, Coilers,

Been there, done that.  I had the same problem with my coil about a year
ago when I started applying higher power than I'd previously done thanks
to a newly acquired PDT.  I resolved the trouble by increasing the space
between the outer end of the primary and the strike rail.  I found that
in my case it was best done by placing the strike rail above rather than
further out from the outer-most primary turn.  My spacing is about two
inches and with power approaching 3 KVA I've had no troubles.
